About us
The National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalization of Energy Use in Algeria (APRUE) is a public industrial and commercial institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies.
APRUE’s primary mission is to implement Algeria’s national energy conservation policy through the promotion of energy efficiency. Its main duties are as follows:
• Propose long-term development strategies for energy management and a medium-term program specifying objectives to be achieved and resources to be deployed;
• Prepare the national energy balance, conduct forward-looking energy studies, and assess medium- and long-term energy efficiency potentials through its Energy Management Observatory;
• Organize and disseminate information necessary for the development of energy management, and carry out communication and awareness activities in this field;
• Organize training programs, particularly for professionals involved in energy management, in partnership with the relevant sectors;
• Promote the development of energy efficiency through:
– The design and implementation of programs and projects, in collaboration with stakeholders in energy management (industry, transport, housing, services, renewable energy development, local authorities), with the aim of facilitating their integration into the National Energy Management Program;
– The preparation of legislative or regulatory proposals related to energy management, as well as recommendations concerning financial, fiscal, and customs incentives that could be granted to energy efficiency projects in accordance with current laws and regulations;
– The search for funding for energy management initiatives from financial institutions;
– The study of mechanisms to remove barriers to the promotion of energy efficiency;
– The contribution to international cooperation projects in the field of energy management;
• Ensure the management and monitoring of energy audits;
• Contribute, in coordination with the relevant organizations, to the control and verification of energy efficiency in various sectors.
